Mason is a vibrant 4 year old boy who likes to swing, ride in his power wheels jeep, color, play video games, and watch
SpongeBob. He loves to help and fix things with his tools. He's very courageous, helpful, and caring towards others.
On June 1st of this year Mason was diagnosed with ALL which is short for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which as you know is a cancer of the blood and blood producing systems. Mason will receive chemotherapy several times a month for the next 3 years. And the number and strength of his treatments in each phase will vary. Every child reacts differently to the treatment, so depending how Mason's body responds to the treatment will determine his outcome to be cured.
So far Mason treatment has been like a rollercoaster, some weeks are good and others are bad. Lately his blood test results have not been good, and he has not been able to receive treatment. If he was to get treatment with his numbers being so low they would completely wipe out his immune system. We are just waiting and praying that the doctors will come up with an answer to why this is happening. And of course we pray for good days so he can play and be active, because on the bad days he can't get off the couch or is sick from treatment. Mason is currently about to start a new phase of treatment and is currently in remission. However remission does not mean that he is cured, it just means that no leukemia cells are showing up in his blood tests there could be cells still in the body. This is why treatment takes 3 years, to make sure that every single cells is destroyed.
