Lindsey Wilkins is a 13 year old girl who was originally diagnosed at age 11 with Ewing's Sarcoma in the middle of her left femur. After limb salvage surgery in October 2006, the doctors told her that she didn't have Ewing's but instead had small cell Osteosarcoma. After an additional 16 times of chemo (21 total) the cancer was gone. One year later ( to the day from her last chemo)she had a recurrence. Her surgeon removed a small tumor near the first site. Her mom and dad had taken her to MD Anderson in Houston and she was started on a regimen of Gemcetibine/Doctaxel/Avastin. After 3 months, she still had two spots in her right lung so she had a thorocotomy. Lindsey and her parents traveled to Sloan Kettering for a month to get L-MTP-PE and have since returned home where she receives the same treatment at Children's Hospital along with some HD MTX every 3-4 weeks.

Urgent Update

Everyone at the JP Foundation has a heavy heart today. It was so sad to hear your Lindsey has crossed over. Please know that your entire family is in our thoughts and in our prayers. God Bless You.

No more pain... Posted (3.23.2010) Lindsey passed away at 9:45 am today... She went quietly and in her sleep and most importantly - without signs of panic or anxiety. Lindsey got to say goodbye to her friends this weekend. She said goodbye to Ken last weekend and Danielle Saturday and I think these goodbyes let her go in peace. Although she wasn't held in our arms (she died in her "sicky chair") she knew she was surrounded by love - both locally and throughout the world. Thank you..Doug
